Submitting a Challenge

Challenges are exercises to be solved by a small group of students. The best challenges are more difficult than a problem set, but students can convince themselves of the answer without validation from the instructor. You can look at some examples for ideas. Representative qualities of good Challenges: fun or gamelike, practicing a problem-solving method, reinforcing important concepts, requiring creativity, collaborative or competitive.

To maximize the ability of others to use the submissions, Challenges must be submitted as an RTF ("rich text format") file. Any word-processing program can produce a .rtf file. If there are illustrations, submit them as a separate file in .jpg or .gif format. If you would like to submit a .pdf (Acrobat) version as well, it will be posted. Each file should be included as an attachment in an email.
